Here we enjoy a conversation with our inspiring MYNDUP Practitioner and Counsellor Parisa. Read on to discover the powerful life lessons she’s learnt and the focus she has on equipping people with the right guidance and skills needed to tackle any problem.
How did you get into the world of well-being?
I have a real passion for health whether it be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. I just love it! In my spare time, I read a lot about different areas of well-being. I personally think that if we are doing well in the area of well-being and health, we can definitely do well in the other areas of our lives, as they all affect each other.
What do you specialise in?
I’m a counsellor and specialise in the areas of anxiety, relationships, motivation and self-esteem.
Can you share your MYNDUP story with us?
I have recently started working with MYNDUP and I’m loving the experience so far! It's been great connecting with clients overseas as I live in Australia and have realised that at the end of the day, regardless of where we live, we are all human with very similar issues.
What’s one proven mental health tip or technique you’ve discovered and would share with others?
People often underestimate the importance of physical health on mental health. As humans, we definitely need to pay more attention to our physical health if we want to improve our mental health. One technique to help us relax and focus is to do deep breathing. It doesn't matter where you are - in the car, in the house, office or park - deep breathing is a quick way to calm the mind and the nervous system, and regain back control and calmness.
What’s the biggest problem you see people faced with in the mental health industry?
I see a lot of people faced with anxiety in all areas of their lives including health, work, relationship and children. Anxiety is so prevalent amongst people in the modern world.
What have been the most important lessons you’ve learnt in your life?
I've learnt that everything happens for a reason and sometimes there is nothing we can do about it. When we accept we cannot change something that has happened in the past, this acceptance can allow us to move forward with our lives.
Tell us the most inspiring quote, book or movie you’ve read or seen.
“When you find no solution to a problem, it's probably not a problem to be solved, but a truth to be accepted.” - Unknown
What new belief or habit most changed your life in the last three years?
I have become very interested in alternative medicine and naturopathy in particular. It has helped me overcome my own health issues and has definitely changed my life for the better.
When you temporarily lose your focus or motivation, what do you do to bring your attention back?
I go outside into nature for a short walk and take some deep breaths. If I can't go out, then I put a few drops of my frankincense essential oils into my diffuser, close my eyes and practice deep breathing.
What’s the most meaningful impact you’ve made to someone’s life?
I stopped my friend from marrying the wrong person and throwing her life away. At the time it was really hard for her to agree she made the right decision. But after a year, it became evident to her and she was very thankful for the guidance and advice.
What’s the biggest piece of advice you’d tell your younger self?
If something is meant to happen for you then it will happen at the right time. Perhaps not when you want it to, but definitely when it’s meant to. Work hard towards it and don't lose hope, but also don't be too hard on yourself if it doesn't happen at a certain time. Accept it and move on.
Tell us a 'fun fact' about you!
I've visited the street where the Australian TV show called 'Neighbours' is filmed. In my spare time I also do Diamond Dotz and re-watch Everybody Loves Raymond!
